The Southern Volunteer Battalion was reorganized from founding companies of the Alabama Volunteers, in 2006! The Southern Volunteer Battalion is made up of four Infantry companies, a two piece Artillery Battery, a Calvary Company, and a Medical Corp! The Southern Volunteer Battalion is a family oriented, conventional and non-profit organization based in Central Florida. The Southern Volunteer Battalion is fashioned with getting back to the essentials of Civil War reenacting with the obligation to keep the battalion simple in drill and without the political domineering!

 

The Southern Volunteer Battalion duties are to attempt to represent the men who fought the Civil War, through living history encampments, battle reenactments, memorials, and public communication activities. Although the Southern Volunteer Battalion is organized as a Confederate unit, the Southern Volunteer Battalion does at selected reenactments, will depict Union soldiers, Calvary, and Artillerymen
